"The industry is confronted with a graying work-force in science, engineering and manufacturing with an estimated 26% available for retirement within the next five years...intellectual capital is one of the nation's most important sources of benefit to society; loss of a quarter of the most experienced personnel is potentially catastrophic. From: "Ensuring Workforce Skills of the Future-The Birth to Work Pipeline." Rick Stephens, The Boeing Company/Elane Scott, Consultant, 2003.
Working closely with the California Space Authority, the State of California, appropriate Federal agencies and other space education and workforce stakeholders, the California Space Education and Workforce Institute utilizes the California Space Enterprise Strategic Plan and other industry/government studies to determine its appropriate scope of work and priority programs and activities.
