Cool Facts About the Planet Venus

Venus is an attractive planet just like the planet Earth. The size of it has a similarity with the size of Earth. However, it has a different surface and atmospheric condition. It has very thick clouds that usually lock in the heat and the surface of it has active volcanoes. Some people believe that this planet is the twin of planet Earth because these planets have the same mass and size. They also have the same orbit that rotates around the sun. The atmosphere in this planet has 96.5 percent of carbon dioxide along with greenhouse effect which has a very high temperature of estimated 460 degrees Celsius. With this temperature, your body will surely get into ash when you attempt to walk in this planet.

Characteristics of Venus

It has bright and eye catchy casts of shadows. Some astronomers measured the brightness of this object in the night through its magnitude. Only moon and sun are brighter than Venus. The range of brightness of this planet is about negative 3.8 up to negative 4.6 magnitudes. However, it has a brighter light as compared to the light that provided by the stars. The brightness of it can easily cast shadows and lighten some elements near it.

It is stated above that this planet has similarity with the planet Earth but it has 92 times additional pressure than Earth. If you can still withstand the high pressure of it, the toxic chemicals and heat will be the one that will kill you. Some of the clouds here are composed of sulfur dioxide that releases sulfuric acid. If you will analyze these features of the planet Venus, you will realize that the planet looks like the place of hell. The surface of Venus is described as a stormy dessert due to the active volcanoes and craters that it has. Due its surface condition, it looks like a molten lead and you will never see water in this planet.

Venus and the Solar System

Venus is the 6th largest planet in the solar system. This planet has the orbital speed of 78, 292 minutes per hour or 35 kilometers per second. The official distance of it from the sun is measured 68 million miles or 109 million kilometers while its distance from the planet Earth is 25 million miles or 40 million kilometers. Since Venus is very close to the sun, some astronomers declare that this is the hottest planet in the space. It takes 234 days before it accomplish rotating around the sun. It is stated above that it has lots of active volcanoes and the number of volcanoes here are about 167. The rotation of this planet is very slow and it has a longer day of rotation.

Furthermore, this is an interesting and most explored planet due to the numerous space probes that already visited this planet to gain significant information about it. Actually, there is water in Venus, but it dries up rapidly due the hot temperature on its surface. It has a mountain named Maat Mon which is higher than the volcanoes on Earth. But, some scientists don’t know if this volcano is still active or not.
